Silvertown
8m00ch
measurements
Like the rest of the
line, Silvertown was formerly double track, with
a second, substantial platform on the left. The original Silvertown
Tramway leaves the present line here, and heads away to the left.
The 'tramway' was the original railway route to this area before
the
Royal Docks were built. In the distance, the rather ghostly towers
of
Docklands can already be seen. The centre one is Canada Tower,
the iconic structure which identifies Canary Wharf.
